About the Author

If I'm being honest, this is probably my least favorite page in the entire book.

I've been told that if I want people to find my work, I need to post more, blog more, build a personal brand, and put myself out there. I understand why. But none of those things are what I enjoy.

I don't enjoy being the center of attention.

I enjoy solving problems.

Give me a complicated process, a stack of confusing regulations, contradictory information, and a notebook, and I'm happy. I study. I ask questions. I research until I understand it. Then I organize everything into something another person can actually use.

That's what this book is.

It wasn't written because I wanted to become an author. It was written because someone I care about was navigating a system that seemed designed to make simple answers difficult to find. As I researched, I realized countless other families were asking the same questions, chasing the same documents, and making the same frustrating phone calls.

So I kept going.

If you've picked up this guide, chances are you're trying to help yourself or someone you care about. If that's the case, I hope this book saves you time, reduces some of the uncertainty, and gives you a clearer path forward.

I don't claim to have all the answers, and I don't claim to replace an attorney. What I can promise is this: every guide I create is built the same way. I learn everything I can. I organize it. I test it. I document it. Then I share it in the hope that the next person won't have to start from scratch.

That's the work I love.
